    High tech way to measure static resistance. Ohms law states R=V/I, so amp clamp your test specimen and measure the voltage and use a Pico math channel to get dynamic resistance while it is under load.

    The background music is annoying, distracting and detracts from the quality of the video. Anybody who would be interested in this material doesn't need the daft music. It's also rather insulting to the guy presenting who's doing a good job of explaining. Which arty video type thought this daft music was on brand? We're diagnostic professionals, not idiots who need flashy things and shouty music. I love Picoscopes but no need for that daftness. Sort it out lads. Fire your video editor. Know your audience and respect your brand. Your reputation is for accuracy and industry-leading innovation. This music in the background is not on brand.

      Absolutely right. I kept tapping the screen to see how much longer I would have to put up with it. In the end I gave up. I got just about halfway through, so I’ll never know how it ended. I’d rather be water-boarded than put up with this. As you so rightly say, we’re professionals, not halfwits with zero attention spans. It’s an insult to you, Steve, an insult to Pico Automotive, and most importantly, a huge insult to our professionalism - the mechanics, technicians and engineers. If I want this sort of nonsense, I’ll go watch TikTok or similar.

      Yes it only works on 4225A and 4425A scopes with BNC+ as the resistance lead must be powered by the scope.

    15:50 as you say the sample rate doesn't need to be that high and turn it down almost everything went to errors 😂 And you had a notification throughout the whole capture before that the bitrate allready could be too low to have proper decoding and the canbus bits all have triangular edges so right on the edge of just enough

    These control arms/ball joints are notorious on tesla to go bad, some times squeaks a lot when tjey go dry and bad. To check the play on them the car must be resting on the ground, when you lift the car and wheels sag down there isn't play anymore But usually it's the rear one that the shock is mounted on

    The not knowing if the gremlins had switched on the probe to make sure the battery would be flat when we next took the probe out has got to be one the biggest advantage of BNC+. These differential probes also give you that extra peace of mind when using a common-ground ‘scope, such as the 4823. Thanks, Steve.

    Brilliant case study, and interesting insight into the cost of genuine OEM Tesla parts. Great quotes. “…other than a big spider, I think it’s dead, I hope it is”. and “Thank God it’s cured.” You can be forgiven for what the aviation industry calls confirmation bias: in my mind a picture was forming of some sort of stiction in the shock absorber. It shows how easily we humans succumb to confirmation bias (and why ‘planes crash due to pilot error). That said, next time you hear the same noise, especially on a Tesla, you’re going to go straight for that ball joint, and reasonably so. “How to separate experience and confirmation bias.” Discuss. Steve, next time you get something like this, can you try something I’ve been mulling over? Instead of moving the accelerometers, how about taking a ball-pein hammer and, having already obtained your 3 accelerometer traces, tap in various places until you find places that give you the same (or similar) first-and-second-responder responses in PicoScope? You could then reposition the accelerometers as required, but I do wonder if a small hammer used to knock at various places might speed up the triangulation. What do you think?

    In cylinder pressure overlay can be misleading, because doesnt factor for crankshaft acceleration/deceleration. In fact maybe your good and bad cylinder have exactly the same valve opening and closing events. Why would a worn camshaft cause late closing of a valve? My guess out of experience with this engines is that the lower compression is caused by the piston not travelling all the way up in the bore, because of failed connecting rod bearing.

    Pico could send me one of the automotive scopes like this i live in a town that doesn't use scops yet it would be awesome to show off to the people and get them to start useing them. This town and the other naboring city's and town are behind the times here it would be great to bring the mechanics here into scopes. Beleave me they realy need to be brought up to today's testing so many get it rong in Arizona. They realy need shown whats out there to help them out. I use a 2000 modle 2 channel and I know it needs to be 4 channel or more in this day in age. Uscop does ok but 1 channel in most cases just not enough.
